AWM Manage Retention Policy

AWM Manage Retention Policy

This policy will allow mailboxes archive emails to Database Archive. First Instruction is for Personal Emails

Personal Emails

  1. Login to
    1. https://mail.awaste.com.au/ecp/#
  2. Click on “Compliance Management”
    1. Click on Retention Tags.
      1. Add new tag.
      2. Select  “Applied users to items and folders (Personal)”.
      3. Click move to Archive.
      4. Add days on “When the item reaches the following age (in days) ”.
      5. Save.
    2. Click on Retention Policies.
      1. Click “Add”.
      2. Add  Name and Add Retention Tag.
      3. Click the Tag that been added .
  3. Click Recipients
    1. Click Mailboxes.
    2. Click User or Click Edit.
    3. Make Sure “In-Place Archive” Enable.
    4. Click mailboxes features.
    5. Click Retention Policy that has been created.
  4. Script to runs.
    1. Check “RetentionHoldEnabled” this must be false.
      1. Get-Mailbox "<email address>" | Select RetentionHoldEnabled
    2. Force run the “Retention Policy”
      1. Start-ManagedFolderAssistant  “<Display Name>”
    3. Check if the “Retention Policy” is running correctly.
      1. Get-Mailbox "<emailaddress>" | get-mailboxstatistics -archive -erroraction silentlycontinue| select displayname,totalitemsize

 

Shared Emails

  1. Login to
    1. https://mail.awaste.com.au/ecp/#
  2. Click on “Compliance Management”
    1. Click on Retention Tags
      1. Add new tag
      2. Select  “Applied automatically to entire mailbox (default)”.
      3. Click move to Archive.
      4. Add days on “When the item reaches the following age (in days) ”.
      5. Save.
    2. Click on Retention Policies
      1. Click “Add”.
      2. Add  Name and Add Retention Tag.
      3. Click the Tag that been added .
  3. Click Recipients
    1. Click Mailboxes.
    2. Click User or Click Edit.
    3. Make Sure “In-Place Archive” Enable.
    4. Click mailboxes features.
    5. Click Retention Policy that has been created.
  4. Script to runs.
    1. Check “RetentionHoldEnabled” this must be false.
      1. Get-Mailbox "<email address>" | Select RetentionHoldEnabled
    2. Force run the “Retention Policy”.
      1. Start-ManagedFolderAssistant  “<Display Name>”
    3. Check if the “Retention Policy” is running correctly.
      1. Get-Mailbox "<emailaddress>" | get-mailboxstatistics -archive -erroraction silentlycontinue| select displayname,totalitemsize
