Purpose:

                We follow this procedure if the bin is contaminated with different waste aside from paper and cardboard.

A)  If a PC bin has a small amount of contamination (less than 20%) and it can be easily removed from the bin and placed beside the bin or in a nearby waste bin, do that and report the contamination (including a photo of the contamination) and outcome in the run app.

B) If the PC bin has a small amount of contamination (less than 20%) and you cannot remove it, please empty the entire bin into the PC truck and report the contamination (including a photo) and the outcome in the run app.

C) If the PC bin has a large amount of contamination (more than 20%), empty whatever paper and cardboard you can by hand, leave the rest in the bin and report the contamination (including a photo) and the outcome in the run app.

Options A and B will result in the customer being warned the first time and informed about options such as educating staff about the use and importance of sorting their recycling, maybe putting the bin out at the last moment (by 5pm for Morning runs, by 8:30am for day runs), the option of us fitting a lock and chain to the bin so the lid cannot be opened when locked except by us and them, etc. They will be informed that further instances of contamination will result in them being charged accordingly.

Option C will result in the customer being notified and asked to either empty the rubbish from the bin prior to their next collection and ensuring it doesn't happen again (per above) or if they are unable or unwilling to, we can book the bin in for a GW collection at the usual "At Call" GW collection fee for that size of bin and it will be added to the next day we service the area in the GW truck. The customer must be informed as to when to place the bin out to ensure it is emptied and that a BNO will result in a BNO charge and the need to rebook again.
